some peplum from the Vera Wang show
peplum on the red carpet
This season you can add new sexy curves to your body, with the sleek and flattering peplum trend. First made popular in the 1940’s and 50’s by high-profile designers (ie. Christian Dior) the peplum trend only makes a comeback once every decade (or so). Peplum skirts, dresses, and tops are defined by a single sassy ruffle which flares out at the hips, and has been seen on the Spring and Fall ’12 runways. This trend was also spotted on front-rower fashionista Olivia Palermo, and has most recently been seen on the Oscars red carpet. Whether it be with a fitted pencil skirt, a cute pair of leggings, or even some leather jeans, a peplum top can be dressed up or down. Whether you tone it down or “pep it up,” peplum is a great way to make a statement all while adding a little spunk to your outfit at the same time.
