Artist Spotlight: The Lumineers

The Lumineers are an American folk-rock band whose music is unlike any other. Their songs are simple; they provide an escape from life with rustic drum beats, and strums of guitar, accordion, and cello. Their biggest single, “Ho Hey,” gained popularity when it was used in a tv commercial, and his been at the tops of the charts ever since. They recently opened for The Dave Mathews Band, and will be headlining a sold-out tour of their own in the Northeastern US. They have also been nominated for 2 Grammys (Best New Artist and Best Americana Album).

They are one of my favorite bands because of the simplicity, yet beauty of their songs. I went to see them perform about a month ago, and learned that they sound even better live than recorded. While listening to The Lumineers, it is like the rest of the world doesn’t exist, and it is only you and their raspy voices guiding you along.

Have  a listen HERE. My favorite songs are “Slow it Down” and “Stubborn Love.”
