It was a freeezing cold day out in NYC and I was searching for a good place to eat with a cozy atmosphere. I was confronted with so much more… Enter: The Smile. As you stomp down the four stairs, push your way through the door, and swoosh aside the dark black curtain, you enter into a whole new world. You make your way to the hostess who is dressed in high-waisted denim jeans, a floor length cardigan, and dark black clogs. You are seated immediately. You wonder what to order, as everything sounds so fresh and organic. You look around. The restaurant is filled with lumberjack shirts, waxed moustaches, and many artsy, young people tucked underground enjoying their Sunday brunch. You don’t fit in. But, ugh, the food… it gives off the most unreal smell. You should definitely stay. You order. Your food comes fast. The service is good. Brunch is a success. Behold, The Smile.
