The Mike Kelley show at MoMA PS1 is just too awesome to miss. The show snakes throughout the whole PS1 building and takes up 40,000 square feet of gallery space. It showcases Kelley’s work in the video, printmaking, painting, sculpture, and performance art mediums. The whole show is an homage of sorts to Kelley, who committed suicide last year at the age of 57. His work deals with social class, pop culture, and uses the recurring image of the spine.
The show is indescribable. It is eerie, and something that you truly have to go and experience for yourself.
Although Mike Kelley at MoMA PS1 is only open until February 2nd, I recommend that you try to make a trip there this weekend! It’s worth it!
