Arctic Monkeys at MSG

The Arctic Monkeys are without a doubt my favorite band. I love their style, music, and lyrics. Absolutely everything about them is perfection.

Yesterday at 5pm, I lined up with hundreds of other people to get a good spot in GA at their Madison Square Garden concert. With freezing temperatures and harsh winds, it was a really big struggle to stand outside for the full two hours until the doors opened. Once MSG let people in, and I was situated 3 people away from the stage, the real wait began. The wait to see the Arctic Monkeys. I had never seen them play live before and was counting down to this moment for the past 3 months.

Let me tell you right now… it was SO worth it.

After Deerhunter played a few opening songs, the Arctic Monkeys came on and blew everyone away.  The lights were awesome, the crowd was so into it, and Alex Turner’s voice was 100 times more beautiful than any Youtube video, Spotify recording, or CD could ever capture.  They sang new hits like “Arabella” and “Do I Wanna Know,” while also playing old songs like “R U Mine” and “Old Yellow Bricks.”  Throughout the performance, Alex Turner stopped numerous times to comb his hair back, while the giant A and M sign lit up behind him. In all, the Arctic Monkeys played a total of 20 songs.

Apparently one in three Americans actually watched that performance, so if we’re lucky one or three Americans might watch this YouTube video.” With that, they briefly transported the crowd back to the 60s.

Overall, seeing the Arctic Monkeys live is something I truly hope everyone who likes their music gets to experience once in their life. They are amazing lyricists, phenomenal singers, and put on a truly incredible show. It was definitely the best concert I have ever been to.

If I still haven’t convinced you, check out this newly released acoustic cover of “Do I Wanna Know.”
