I have always loved the costume institute at the Met, so when I heard about the Jean Paul Gaultier exhibit at the Brooklyn Museum, I knew I had to check it out. The exhibit is all about the life of designer Jean Paul Gaultier and features over 130 haute couture ensembles. Everything in the exhibit is free of glass and ropes, and the mannequins look down at you with full human emotion. The whole exhibit is curated by Thierry-Maxime Loriot and is divided into 7 separate themes.
I highly urge you to make a trip to the Brooklyn Museum this weekend, as I believe this exhibit will not disappoint! However, if you can’t make it before the show’s closing on Sunday, check out some of Gaultier’s clothes in my film photos below. “The Fashion World of Jean Paul Gaultier: From the Sidewalk to the Catwalk” runs through Feb. 23 at the Brooklyn Museum, 200 Eastern Parkway, at Prospect Park; 718-638-5000, brooklynmuseum.org.
