One of the biggest perks of living in NYC is getting to go to concerts on school nights. On Thursday night, I saw that my friend was selling two tickets to The 1975 concert on Facebook and knew that I had to snatch them up quick. I had been trying to get my hands on tickets for weeks, since the show had been sold out for the longest time and there were only 22 tickets on Stubhub going for 170$. This was my opportunity.
We got to the concert during the warmup band (around 9pm) and got great spots towards the side. The great thing about Terminal 5 is that the entrance to the venue is on the side, so when you first walk in you are immediately pretty close to the stage.
At 10pm, The 1975 came on stage. First of all, I am OBSESSED with the lead singer, Matt Healy. He is beautiful. His voice is great, his moves are great, and most importantly, his hair is great. The band as a whole was totally awesome and put on such a great show. It was much more intimate than when I saw them at Coachella and the crowd was filled with fans who were there solely to see them.
This was their first time doing a tour in the USA, even though they’ve been together as a band for ten years. They jumped right in and played all their hits- The City, Settle Down, Girls, Chocolate, Sex- and some of their lesser known songs like Menswear, An Encounter, M.O.N.E.Y, You. There was never a dull moment. If you missed seeing them this go around, don’t fret! They’ll be back for GovBall Day 1!
